MITCH IN LONDON
Wednesday, August 1, 2012
Hey everybody,
I have been here 9 days and it's the first time i've had time I've had to sit and work on the blog, thank you for you patience
Again, as I did the when I went to my first Olympics I'd like to thank my Mom, my late Dad and my sisters for all the help and support they've given me over the years. . Thank you for the sacrifices that I cannot ever repay. I hope I can make you proud once again and will do my best.
Please, the young people who read this, you are not a success alone, you must have strong family support in which to follow your dreams.
"And to quote my last blog"
My Dad always told me if life gets too crazy for you, come home. Home is a good place to bring everything into perspective. Whether they agreed with me or not, and there was quite a few of those, they're love and support was unconditional. And then Mom would say "that's why were here".
Thanx again Mom & Dad, and my sisters Lori-ann & Jenn
When I left Winnipeg to head to London it was just a rush, no really, everything that I had to do was just sheer panic,"do i have my passport, did i remember my bank card, did i bring my olympic ID card...Duh and of course how are our teams doing in the Western elites...but I did make it safe and sound.
Now, here's how the trip started from the "Peg".
When Darryl Friesen (Canada's Beach Referee) and I boarded the plane, we were informed that the flight was running 1/2 hour late and they would make up the time in the air..NOT. We were supposed to land at 1020pm Toronto time and catch our flight to London at 1120pm.
Well, we landed at 1050pm, at the terminal at 1105 and if we miss our connection we can not get to London until 900pm the next day.
After, sprinting through the airport, about the length of 4 football fields we arrived at the London gate, where we were informed that our flight was delayed 45 mins.
Now sweating like a mad cow, i went to sit down and play with my Ipad, guess what ,I left it on the Winnipeg flight and they wouldn't let go back to get it.
Lucky for me it was found and shipped to my hotel in London.
About to get ready to go to my match tonite, Brazil vs Korea women, I think most of you can watch online with CTV.
Talk at everyone later. More stories and Pictures to follow.
